Architects

The Ostberg Architects was founded in 1980 by Linda Ostberg, AIA, LEED AP.

Sustainable design is a part of all of out projects – energy efficiency, conservation of resources, reuse of buildings/materials, alternative forms of energy where appropriate

We offer a complete planning and architectural design service based on a broad background of experience in educational, commercial, industrial and residential projects.

We expect to establish a strong working relationship with each client.  We listen carefully to your concerns and include you in the design process to ensure that the resulting project meets the established goals.  We approach each project enthusiastically.  Our philosophy is to provide creative, innovative and sensitive design solutions, incorporating new technology as effectively as possible, while keeping the project functional, uncomplicated, and within budget.

Our firm has had a long standing interest in sustainable design and environmentally conscious design solutions.

Linda Ostberg, AIA, LEED AP

Principal

Linda received her Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Minnesota and became a licensed Architect in 1977. Linda started The Ostberg Architects in 1980 after practicing for several years at other firms.

Linda has been active in the AIA Minnesota and Saint Paul chapters; serving as President of AIA Saint Paul and Treasurer of AIA Minnesota as well as on various committees over the years.  She was appointed to the Governor’s Residence Council from 2004 to 2007. This group is responsible for advising officials on the preservation, renovation and maintenance of the Residence; insuring that modifications are completed that are appropriate both to its current use and its history.  Since 2010 she has been a member of the Minnesota Architectural Foundation, which provides advocacy and capital for the advancement of architecture in Minnesota, and Chair of its Clarence Wigington Scholarship committee.

Linda has been interested in sustainable design and energy while working on her architectural degree as a part of the “Energy and Environment Studio” and this continues to this day.  She was an early member of the Minnesota Solar Energy Association.  As a long time member of the AIA Minnesota Energy and Environment Committee, she was part of the steering committee which published the AIA Minnesota Energy Sourcebook in the early 1980’s.  At its publication, the book was called “the most significant publication to come from the design professions in Minnesota in the past decade” as there was very little detailed information available on sustainable design at that time.  Linda continues to stay abreast of sustainable design concepts which we incorporate into our projects.  When not in the office, she can be found riding her horse or working with the dogs.
