Mann Elementary

ADDITION AND REMODELING
Saint Paul, Minnesota
The school was originally built in the 1920’s with an addition from the 1950’s. Our new addition, located between these two buildings, was designed to blend and unify the school while providing vertical circulation between all levels. The addition included a gymnasium/cafeteria, commercial kitchen, administration area, and music/band room. The existing gym was remodeled into the new Media Center and windows were cut into the exterior wall to bring daylight and exterior views into the space. A stepped ceiling with direct/indirect lighting was designed to take advantage of the existing high gymnasium ceiling.  The former library became the new science room, original administration areas became small classrooms for specialized programs, an elevator was added, and toilets were remodeled to provide handicap accessibility.
